Baptist Church started out being called "Babelay Road
Baptist Church." Below are some early Church minutes:
September 10, 1942:
Babelay Road Baptist Church
Members of the Babelay
Road Baptist Church met September 10 at the church for their
monthly business meeting. Meeting was began by two songs and
prayer. It was then turned into business session in which Edd
Spencer acted as Moderator. Minutes of last meeting was read by
Betty Rhea Smith. Reports of Monthly B.Y.P.U. and Sunday School
Records were read by Mrs. J. G. Davis and Mrs. Elizabeth Rouse.
Mrs. Lansden gave an oral report of The Ladies Missionary
Society. After some discussion, Mr. T. T. Lewis was elected as
half-time pastor of the church.

September 24, 1942:
Babelay Road Baptist Church
Members of Babelay Road
Baptist Church met Thursday evening, September 24 a the church
for their monthly business meeting. Monthly Sunday School Report
was read by Mrs. Rouse and B.Y.P.U. Reports by Mrs. Davis. Date
of business meeting was changed from 3rd Thursday till 1st
Thursday. All members of the church voted to have one Treasurer
for the whole church. Another payment was to be paid on the
church the following week. The church also voted to put cieling
on the wall and oil the floors. Mr. T. T. Lewis acted as
Moderator. Meeting was adjourned.
October 29, 1942:
Babelay Road Baptist Church
Members of Babelay Road
Baptist Church met Thursday, October 29 for monthly business
meeting. The Treasure Report was given by Mrs. J. G. Davis. Mr.
Winstead was licensed to preach. The time of the Sunday School
was changed from 9:20 o'clock to 10 o'clock. Mr. Livingstone of
the Lincoln Park Baptist was voted to hold the revival. The
members also voted to pay the pastor $7.50 a month. And also
voted to take $7.00 out of the church treasure to buy the radio
for personal work. Brother Lewis acted as Moderator.

January 1943: Highland
Baptist Church
The members of Highland
Baptist Church met on Thursday of the last business meeting.
Treasure Report was read by Mrs. J. G. Davis and also the Sunday
School Report. Mr. Paul Sylvia was elected teacher of the
Intermediate Sunday School Class, Mrs. J. S. Smith was elected
as Jr. B.Y.P.U. Teacher, and Mr. Smith was elected as Jr. Sunday
School Teacher. The money collected for a radio was used for
necessary materials for the Mr. Luther Moody since the radio was
unable to be obtained. Miss Betty Rhea Smith and Mr. Edd Spencer
was appointed a committee to select song books for the church
which are to be donated to us. They also appointed a committee
to see after the treat that was given on Christmas Eve Night.
Mr. Smith, Mr. Davis and Mr. Sylvia were elected as pulpit
committee.
Note-Last Sunday, December
26, 1942, Mr. T. T. Lewis resigned from the Highland Baptist
Church to accept the pastorate of the Maynardville Baptist
Church in Union County. The church accepted his resignation.

Members of Highland
Baptist Church met Thursday of last business meeting. Treasure
and Sunday School Reports were read by Mrs. Davis. The church
voted to sell the rest of the boards to Mr. Davis at regular
price. Minutes were read by Miss Betty Rhea Smith. Meeting
adjourned.

February 11, 1943:
Highland Baptist Church
Thursday, February 11 was
on Ordination Service of a Pastor, Ernest L. Warwick and two
Deacons: J. S. Smith and O. M. Kerr.
The services began by an
opening prayer lead by Bro. Linsey of Grove City Baptist Church.
Bro. Livingston of Lincoln Park Baptist Church conducted the
service, and asked Pastor Ernest L. Warwick several questions
which were passed.
The Deacons agreed to all
answers. Bro. Crass of John Sevier Baptist church read the Bible
and brought the Ordination Message. After the message, Bro. Cox
from ____ Baptist Church lead prayer and after prayer Bro.
Linsey of Grove City presented the Bible. The Pastor and Deacons
and wives were welcomed by shaking hands. Bro. Kirkpatrick of
New Beverly Baptist Church was present during the
Ordination.
