Sunday School Class Starting
This Sunday, October
9th, we are offering an all-new Sunday school class. This is for
everyone that currently does not have a regular class. The teacher
is Bro. James Chesney. If you have been putting off Sunday school
but wanting to attend, now is the perfect time to start. Look

Sermon Series - From Mountaintops to Whirlwinds
One of the great things about the Bible is the way that God
doesn't just paint us a pretty picture of perfect people with
perfect lives. He shares with us both the good and the bad. The
Prophet Elijah is a perfect example. Pastor Byron will begin
preaching a series of messages entitled, 'From Mountaintops to
Whirlwinds.' Come be with us, and bring a friend, as we take a
look at what the Lord has to say to us from His Word.

Our
New Pastor
 Bro.
Byron Chesney was elected as our interim pastor on August 17, 2011. He accepted Christ as his Savior
at Elm Street Baptist church during Vacation Bible School
when he was 7-years old. He was called to preach in 1998 and was ordained into the Gospel Ministry at Highland
on May 30, 2010.
Bro. Byron holds an A.S.
degree in Electronics, a B.S. degree in Management and is currently enrolled at
Crown Seminary, working toward his Masters degree in Ministry. He is employed
with Tyco Electronics as an Application Engineer. He married his high school
sweetheart, Mary Seaton, in 1985. Bro. Byron and Sis. Mary have 3 children;
Jessica, Matthew, and Elizabeth. Mary is a housewife and a home school teacher.
An interesting bit of
trivia: Byron's grandfather, Rev. Ed Spencer, was one
of the original founders of Highland Baptist Church in 1942 and also was pastor
of the church 2 different times for a total of 9-years.
