Sympathy Extended
 Our thoughts and prayers go out to
the
family of brother, Paul Haire. Mr. Haire, a long time Highland
church
member, Sunday school teacher, deacon, WWII veteran, and friend of the community, passed away in the early
morning hours of Tuesday, April 1, 2008. He was 94-years old.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 3, from 6:00
to 7:30pm, with funeral services at 7:30pm, at Mynatt funeral
home in Fountain City. Family and friends will meet Friday at
9:45 am at Greenwood Cemetery for interment at 10 am. For more

 VBS
Meeting Sunday, April 6th
Anyone that is going to be helping out with
Vacation Bible School this year, please plan to attend a brief
meeting on Sunday, April 6th immediately following the morning
worship service. Also, all workers and teachers, please

is cancelled for this Easter Sunday. Will resume at
5:00pm on next Sunday, March 30th.

Easter Egg Hunt - March
22, 4:00pm
Boil those eggs and come on out! Saturday,
March 22, at 4:00pm, we will be having an Easter Egg hunt at
the church. Make plans now to attend this fun event!

Good Friday
Communion March 21 at 7:00pm.
Make plans now to attend a special Communion
service on Good Friday eve. This will be a time of observance
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ's life and death in the
days prior to his glorious resurrection.

Sunrise Service at 6:30 AM, breakfast will
be served.
Sunday school at 9:30am and Easter Sunday Morning Worship Services at
10:30 AM. Special music Cantata by the Highland Baptist Church

Daylight Savings Time begins on March 9,
2008 at 2:00 AM. Be sure and set your clocks forward 1 hour
before going to bed on Saturday night. You don't want to be
late for church!!!

VBS Meeting this coming
Sunday March 9th
Anyone interested in helping out with
Vacation Bible School this year, please plan to attend a brief
meeting immediately following Sunday morning services. VBS

Sunday, April 13, at 10:30 am, the Southern gospel group,
"Forgiven,"
will be in concert at Highland Baptist Church. About the
group:. "Forgiven is a Southern Gospel group located
in Knoxville, Tennessee. We are using the talents that our
Heavenly Father has blessed us with to glorify His name
through singing His praises and spreading the Word of God in
songs.
Our faith in Jesus Christ has carried us through close to 12
years in the ministry."

Chuck Wagon Gang! It was truly a blessing to listen to this
Spirit filled group of singers. Thanks also for each person
that came out to worship with us. We pray that you received a

Singing & Worship Opportunity: Choir

The world famous Chuck
Wagon Gang will be ministering in concert at Highland Baptist
Church on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Everyone is
welcome. No admission charge. A love offering will be
taken.
For the past 71 years,
the Chuck Wagon Gang has continued to be one of the most
popular and cherished gospel groups in the world. Today's
group still stands by the tradition of singing the old gospel
songs, the old time way, just the way Dad Carter taught.

A Great Time at the
2007 Christmas Dinner!

Dockins,
Irene C. (Our Precious Moma)—age 86 of Knoxville,
passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007. She worked along
side her husband for many years at Doc’s Appliance
Service. She was the last living sibling of the Gilbert
and Bessie Castleberry family of Adel, GA.
LONG, REV. BUDDY (ODIS) - age 59, who was a friend to
all and whose goal in life was to win souls for Jesus,
went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16,
2007. He was the pastor of Greene's Chapel Baptist
Church and former pastor of Smith Grove Baptist Church
and Calvary Baptist Mission. He was an employee of Knox
County Schools for 30 years. Preceded in death by his
parents, O.A. and Ada Long; father-in-law and
mother-in-law, Jack and Nell McMahan. Survived by his
wife of 40 years, Linda; daughter, Stephanie Garrett;
grandchildren, Caleb and Lakin; sisters, Carolyn (Fred)
Chorn, Barbara (Albert) Jenkins, Peggy (Perry) Price,
Marilyn (David) Steele, and Judy Long; dearly loved
nieces and nephews; and a host of loved ones and
friends. Donations may be made in memory of Rev. Long to
the Fellowship Building Fund of Greene's Chapel Baptist
Church, 800 West Woodland Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Monday at Highland Baptist
Church (Babelay Road) with Rev. Lee Chorn officiating.
Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Piney
Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m.
graveside service and interment. Pallbearers: Michael
Jenkins, Kenny Bales, Paul Dockery, James Price, Marcus
Price, Kendall Price, Brandon Price, and Bryan Price.
Fellow ministers will be honorary pallbearers. Family
will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at
Highland Baptist Church. Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Ave.
at N. Broadway is serving the family of Rev. Long. Rev.
Long's guest book is also available at 
Our Cake Social's have been re-started. Come and
join us on the last Sunday of every month, immediately
following the evening Worship service. This is a time of good
food, fun, and fellowship!
