Frances Jean Frost Grisham, age 79 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 3, 2010. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. Survived by her husband of 62 years, Clifford W. Grisham; daughters, Debbie Cash and Laura Parker; granddaughters, Tara Cash and Melissa Karnes and husband Tony; great granddaughters, Illiana and Nora Karnes; several extended family members. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8 pm in the Halls Chapel of
Mynatt Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Copeland and Rev. David Hutchison officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at 10:45am at Greenwood Cemetery for interment at 11am. On Saturday, November 7th,
a group of 10 Christian men came together for Highland's first
ever, Coffee & Christ Fellowship! What a great time we
shared together! Bro. William started things off with a
devotion, followed up by Bro. Byron discussing topics
relevant to today's Christian man and ending with a roundtable
discussion concerning issues facing Christian men today. Coffee
& Doughnuts were served. Look for more Coffee & Christ

JONES, ROY CLAYTON - Age 80, of Knoxville, went to be with the
Lord, Jesus Christ Monday, September 28, 2009. Member of North
Knoxville Baptist Church. Roy was a devoted husband, loving
father, grandfather and best friend. Preceded in death by
father, Edward Jones; mother, Ella Mae Bunch; step-father,
Burr Bunch; sisters Pauline Jones and Juanita Spickard;
brothers, Lloyd, Claude, and Troy Jones. Survived by his wife
Dolly; son and daughter-in-law Roy, Jr. and Heather. He was
blessed with one grandson Kevin Jones and his wife Jenny, as
well as two beautiful great-grandchildren, Alex and Lauren
Jones. He is also survived by sister, Virgie Day and husband,
Ralph; brother, Kenneth Bunch and wife, Gwen. In addition, he
leaves beloved in-laws Bill and Shirley Mynatt, Polly Buckner
and Gertrude Jones, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy loved his family and nearly everyone he met. He was a
natural salesman and used that gift to develop special
friendships throughout his life. Among those friendships were
wonderful neighbors who have treated Roy and Dolly like
family. The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Mancebo, Dr.
Eric Nicely and the staff of St. Mary's Hospital for their
excellent care. Our love and appreciation is also extended to
our friends at Highland Baptist Church for their expressions
of care and concern. The family will receive friends on
Wednesday from 6 - 8 pm at Lynnhurst Funeral Home on Adair Dr.
with funeral services to follow with Rev. Guy Milam and Rev.
Jerry Copeland officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11

Madgett, Robert W. Sr. (Bob) age 84 of Corryton, TN, went
to his eternal home Friday, May 15, 2009 to be with his
Heavenly Father, gone for joy, peace and rest through
eternal ages. Bob was born in Mascot, TN and moved to
Corryton in 1927. He was a member of Highland Baptist
Church. Preceded in death by his brother William Madgett in
1929, his father, William Maurice Madgett, his mother,
Margarte Little Madgett and his grandson, Michael D. Stocks.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Laura Weaver
Madgett, three children, Barbara J. Tsakiris and husband
Leo, Lenoir City, TN, Robert W. Madgett, Jr. and wife Kathy
of Nashville, TN and David K. Madgett and wife Diane of
Luttrell, TN. Grandson Larry D. Stocks and
great-granddaughter, Sarah Stocks Richards (Josh);
Granddaughter Charity Helvie (Scott) of Memphis, TN and 2
great-grandchildren, Madison and Alex. Bob loved life and
his family to the fullest extent. Don’t weep because I’m
gone. Just be prepared to meet me on Heaven’s shore for I
will be there to welcome you home, for I come to know my
Heavenly Father, August 21, 1936. Bob was a WWII veteran,
served duty in France, Germany and Austria. Bob spent 27
years at C.M. McClung Hardware Co. before its closing in
January 1970 and then University of TN a few years before
retiring in 1987. The funeral service will be held at 6:00
P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home with Rev.
Jerry Copeland and Rev. Bill Tipton officiating. Family and
friends will meet 10:15 A.M. Monday at Bridges Funeral Home

night we hosted the gospel/bluegrass group, Rocky
Flatts, at our church. What a great bunch of talented
guys! As I was moving the altar furniture off of the stage

Born September 9, 1909 in Knox County of Joseph and Fannie Luttrell; she was the longest living daughter of seven girls. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. A very hard working and independent lady who was retired from Knox Manufacturing Company, she continued driving until the age of 92 and enjoyed making crafts until the sweet age of 97. Preceded in death by her husbands David B. Booker and Frank Crudgington; sons Herbert E. Booker and Carl Richard (Dick) Booker; sisters Agnes Shipe, Mary Lou Mathews, Cecil Ridenour, Marguerite Stalling, Stella Hackle, Bessie Treece. She is survived by daughter Betty Ann Shipe; grandchildren, Rick Pohl of Los Vegas, Cheri Sullivan and Diana James both of Winchester, VA; great granddaughter Kristy Sullivan; great grandson Kevin Sullivan of Winchester, VA; niece Pat Ensor of Knoxville; nephews Joe Shipe of Oliver Springs and Ken Treece of Loudon; several great nephews. Our thoughts and prayers go out to

family of brother, Paul Haire. Mr. Haire, a long time Highland
church
member, Sunday school teacher, deacon, WWII veteran, and friend of the community, passed away in the early
morning hours of Tuesday, April 1, 2008. He was 94-years old.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 3, from 6:00
to 7:30pm, with funeral services at 7:30pm, at Mynatt funeral
home in Fountain City. Family and friends will meet Friday at
9:45 am at Greenwood Cemetery for interment at 10 am. For more

Meeting Sunday, April 6th
Anyone that is going to be helping out with
Vacation Bible School this year, please plan to attend a brief

Boil those eggs and come on out! Saturday,
March 22, at 4:00pm, we will be having an Easter Egg hunt at

service on Good Friday eve. This will be a time of observance
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ's life and death in the
days prior to his glorious resurrection.

"Forgiven,"
will be in concert at Highland Baptist Church. About the
group:. "Forgiven is a Southern Gospel group located
in Knoxville, Tennessee. We are using the talents that our
Heavenly Father has blessed us with to glorify His name
through singing His praises and spreading the Word of God in
songs.
Our faith in Jesus Christ has carried us through close to 12
years in the ministry."

Dockins,
Irene C. (Our Precious Moma)—age 86 of Knoxville,
passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007. She worked along
side her husband for many years at Doc’s Appliance
Service. She was the last living sibling of the Gilbert
and Bessie Castleberry family of Adel, GA.
Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James
Edward “Doc” Dockins; sons, David Eugene Dockins and
Vernon Dennis Dockins.
Survivors: son, Roger Myron Dockins, daughters and
sons-in-law, Nancy D. and Ronald S. Burnette, Marie
Lillian Dockins, Mary Alice and Steve Thomas, all of
Knoxville; several grandchildren and great
grandchildren; and many loving family and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere
appreciation to Alan for all his support.
Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Friday at Asbury
Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service and
interment. Rev. Jerry Copeland officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m.

Rev. Buddy (Odis) Long
LONG, REV. BUDDY (ODIS) - age 59, who was a friend to
all and whose goal in life was to win souls for Jesus,
went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16,
2007. He was the pastor of Greene's Chapel Baptist
Church and former pastor of Smith Grove Baptist Church
and Calvary Baptist Mission. He was an employee of Knox
County Schools for 30 years. Preceded in death by his
parents, O.A. and Ada Long; father-in-law and
mother-in-law, Jack and Nell McMahan. Survived by his
wife of 40 years, Linda; daughter, Stephanie Garrett;
grandchildren, Caleb and Lakin; sisters, Carolyn (Fred)
Chorn, Barbara (Albert) Jenkins, Peggy (Perry) Price,
Marilyn (David) Steele, and Judy Long; dearly loved
nieces and nephews; and a host of loved ones and
friends. Donations may be made in memory of Rev. Long to
the Fellowship Building Fund of Greene's Chapel Baptist
Church, 800 West Woodland Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Monday at Highland Baptist
Church (Babelay Road) with Rev. Lee Chorn officiating.
Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Piney
Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m.

She worked at Hillcrest North for over 17 years and was a member of

sisters: Cornie Mink, Bessie Patterson, Lucy Wright, Maude Widner,
Ola Lynch and Mary Meyers. Survivors: daughter: Marlene Lane, son:
Gerald Hamilton, daughter: Anna Dayspring, sister-in-law: Anna
Simmons, grandchildren: April, Petey, Dewayne, Brian, Heather and

great time was had by all that attended the 2nd annual "Impact
the Park" event. Several hundred of our brothers and
sisters in Christ, gathered together Saturday, July 7th, at Big
