Bro. Byron Chesney was elected as our interim pastor on August 17, 2011. He accepted Christ as his Savior at Elm Street Baptist church during Vacation Bible School when he was 7-years old. He was called to preach in 1998 and was ordained into the Gospel Ministry at Highland on May 30, 2010.

Bro. Byron holds an A.S. degree in Electronics, a B.S. degree in Management and is currently enrolled at Crown Seminary, working toward his Masters degree in Ministry. He is employed with Tyco Electronics as an Application Engineer. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Seaton, in 1985. Bro. Byron and Sis. Mary have 3 children; Jessica, Matthew, and Elizabeth. Mary is a housewife and a home school teacher.

An interesting bit of trivia: Byron's grandfather, Rev. Ed Spencer, was one of the original founders of Highland Baptist Church in 1942 and also was pastor of the church 2 different times for a total of 9-years.
