From the Pastor's Pen

March 13, 2008:                                    Do You Love To Go To Church?

Psalms 122:1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

Just like King David, I have to say that I am glad when it comes time to go to the house of God. I think it has something to do with being SAVED.

I came to Highland Baptist Church for the first time on September  16th, 2007. As I walked into the sanctuary that Sunday morning, I had an absolutely amazing experience. It was almost as if Jesus Himself was escorting me into His house that morning. I felt right at home and I felt certain that the Lord had sent me to this place. I can’t even begin to describe all of my feelings that morning, but one thing is for sure…I felt good and the service was great.

Sometimes, experiences like I am trying to tell you about only happen once. They only last for a brief moment and then it’s over. At Highland Baptist Church, the same thing just keeps happening every time I walk through the door.  Brother Byron starts out leading the choir and congregational singing. Songs about the BLOOD, the CROSS and the SAVIOUR (you know those old songs like they used to sing when I got saved). We usually don’t get too far into this part of the service before the Spirit of God begins to move among the people. This is about the time that you start to see tears flowing, hands being lifted toward heaven and, every once in a while, you’ll hear a little shoutin’. I am very excited in the LORD about HIS church and the things that are happening. I’m looking for many souls to come to know Christ as their Savior at Highland Baptist Church. I know that the church is going grow, but I’m also certain that because of the LOVE and HARMONY that is here, the Spirit of the Lord will continue to be present in every service.

If you don’t have a church or if you are not being blessed where you are attending and you are looking for an old fashioned church with an old fashioned way of worshiping an old fashioned God, then you owe it to yourself to drop in and give Highland a try. But, only if you’re serious, because if you come more than once and have the Highland Experience, you’ll probably be just like me. A Member.
